Well it seems like this week is full of posts about the weather. As I posted previously, Tuesday was a glorious November day with the warm sun shining. Today was a bit more typical, I guess. It SNOWED!!!! We woke up to a beautiful, white blanket of snow coating our world. It was such a pleasant surprise. So, of course, we took advantage, bundled up and out we went. This was Poppy’s first time really encountering snow on a personal level and I have to say she loved it. I could sense some apprehension at first but once she realized it was safe she dug right in, quite literally, touching and tasting to her heart’s content. Another fun activity was just walking around and hearing it crunch, crunch, crunch under her feet.
When it was time to go back inside and warm up some tears were shed but they were quickly turned to smiles with sips from a steaming cup of hot cocoa. I didn’t realize until later that this was an amazing sensory activity for her. She really got to experience the snow with all of her senses. I love it when we just happen upon ways to positively introduce our little ones to new adventures. I hope that this play session planted a seed for a love of snow that will continue to grow for many years to come. I am seeing images of snow-people in my future!
xoxo, Kristin
